Dimapur, March 14 (MExN): Here is a bit of good news for the power consumers of Chumukedima: a new 66 kv (66,000 volts) transmission line from Dimapur to Chumukedima via Singrijan has been constructed which will supply power to the 66/33/11 kv sub-station at Chumukedima. But the bad news is that it will not2 help much in regular power supply due to the major maintenance work to be carried out on one transformer at Nagarjan Power station.
The Executive Engineer of Dimapur Electrical Transmission Division, Moa Aier, in a telephonic conversation said that the new transmission line will greatly help in transmission of power supply to Chumukedima. However, when asked whether it will help in preventing the load shedding of power due to the maintenance work to be undertaken on one transformer at the Nagarjan grid (which was notified of, on March 13), the Executive Engineer answered in the negative. He said that power supply will depend on the transformer at the grids which supplies power. The engineer anyhow said that the construction of the new line will help ‘in the smooth supply of power’ to Chumukedima sub-station.
A press note from the Executive Engineer also stated that the test-charging of the new 66 kv transmission line is scheduled at 10 ‘O’clock on the morning on March 16.
It informed that as per the India Electrical Rules 1056, there must be a minimum vertical clearance of four meters and 2.3 meters horizontal clearance from the 66kv transmission lines.
The note assured that the department of power has inspected and taken all possible care that all such objects near the lone like buildings, structures and trees has been removed, however, the Executive Engineer directed the public to remove any objects which the department might have overlooked in order to avoid accidents and added that the department would not be responsible for any accidents caused by the objects.
The Executive Engineer further expressed gratitude to the land owners along the stretch of the line for giving ‘right-of-way’ and clearing trees, objects etc.
The Executive Engineer further thanked the chairman and members of the Chumukedima Town Council, the village councils and all the concerned local authourities for their co-operation and support during the construction of the transmission line.
