
Hospital project at NIMSR launched under Japan’s JICA loan scheme
KOHIMA, MAY 8 (MExN): The process to establish a state-of-the-art Medical College Hospital at the Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (NIMSR), Kohima, has formally commenced with a two-day kick-off meeting conducted by the Health Department in coordination with Project Management Consultancy (PMC) firm Nippon Koei India Pvt. Ltd.
The meeting, held on May 6 and 7 under the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Official Development Assistance Loan Project, was aimed at formally initiating the project’s implementation phase. Officials discussed key elements such as the project scope, roles of stakeholders, and required support mechanisms for successful execution.
The session was chaired by the Commissioner & Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, and attended by members of the Project Executive Committee, the Project Management Unit (PMU), and other senior officials from the department.
The project team visited the proposed hospital site to assess ground conditions and inform planning for the construction phase.
According to the department, the establishment of the Medical College Hospital marks a major milestone in Nagaland’s health sector, expected to significantly enhance medical education infrastructure and improve access to quality healthcare services in the state.
