Kohima, July 21 (MExN): The Nagaland government has mandated additional documentary requirements for non-indigenous residents applying for enrolment under the General Household (GHH) Scheme under the Tide Over Allocation, with immediate effect.
As per a notification issued by the Department of Food & Civil Supplies through the State IPR, every non-indigenous applicant must now submit a self-declaration in a prescribed format, certifying that they do not possess a ration card or avail benefits under the Public Distribution System (PDS) in their home state.
The department has also directed that all GHH ration cards issued to non-indigenous residents will carry a clear disclaimer, “The Card issued to Non-Indigenous Residents of Nagaland is only for the purpose of issuance of food grains and not to be used/accepted as a document for proof of identity or any other purposes.”
The notification, issued in continuation of the department’s earlier guidelines on the implementation of the National Food Security Act, 2013, and the operational modalities of the Tide Over category, stated that these additional conditions have been incorporated for implementation under the scheme and will take effect immediately.
