KOHIMA: The new State logo was officially used for the first time during the recently concluded Independence Day functions across the State. It may be mentioned that the logo depicts a majestic mithun against the backdrop of a hilly terrain with the scripts “Government of Nagaland” at the bottom and “Unity” atop a circle which encompasses the mithun. The word “Unity” represents the binding forces, as also the dreams and aspirations of the Nagas. Mithun represents health, wealth, strength, stability and prosperity. The green grassland and hilly terrain depicts the topography of Nagaland in its vivid richness, signifying traditional homeland, agricultural prosperity and flora and fauna.
