Maligaon, June 13 (MExN): In a bid to enhance rail connectivity and improve travel convenience for commuters, Railways has decided to introduce a new train service between Jalpaiguri Road and Sealdah.
Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR in a press release stated that this new train will provide a direct and efficient transportation option between the southern hub of Sealdah in Kolkata and the important northern town of Jalpaiguri Road, thereby significantly boosting connectivity between North and South Bengal.
This is the first express train to run via the Nasipur Rail Bridge, significantly reducing journey time between South and North Bengal. It also marks the first-ever end-to-end direct train connectivity between Jalpaiguri Road and Sealdah, fulfilling a long-standing demand of the people in the region.
The inaugural run of the new train service between Jalpaiguri Road and Sealdah is scheduled for June 14. The Inaugural Special Train No. 03116 (Jalpaiguri Road-Sealdah) will depart from Jalpaiguri Road at 14:00 hours and is scheduled to arrive at Sealdah at 04:00 hours the following day.
The regular services of this newly introduced train will commence from June 20. Train no. 13115 (Sealdah-Jalpaiguri Road) Humsafar Express will commence its journey on every Friday w.e.f. June 20. The train will depart from Sealdah at 23:40 hours to reach Jalpaiguri Road at 12:00 hours on the next day. In return direction, Train no. 13116 (Jalpaiguri Road-Sealdah) Humsafar Express will commence its journey on every Saturday w.e.f. June 21. The train will depart from Jalpaiguri Road at 20:30 hours to reach Sealdah at 08:10 hours on the next day.
