Newly constructed Huska Sumi road inaugurated

Former Minister and sitting local MLA of Pughoboto Assembly Constituency, Y Vikheho Swu today inaugurated the newly constructed road between Khughuto village and Mudtusugho, Chisholimi junction under Pughoboto sub-division of Zunheboto district.  

Inaugurating the road, Swu dedicated it to the people of the area as Huska Sumi Road, a former minister of the State. In his address, Swu informed that the fresh road cutting stretched around 6 kms was constructed under the Chief Minister’s Road Development Fund with an amount of Rs 50 lakhs. In this, he appreciated Mudutsugho and Khughuto village councils for their cooperation in constructing the road without any hassle.  

He said that the aim of constructing the road is to make both the villages improve their connectivity with the sub-divisional headquarter and also enhance their economy by reaching out to other villages.  

On the name of road, the MLA said “Late Huska Sumi was a true leader amongst the Nagas and was always concerned for the welfare of Nagas as a whole and not just a tribe. The road is named after him in order to remind the people about his propagation of upholding the principle of honesty.  

Further, Swu also expressed hope that with the opening of the road, the area which has four villages would also be getting NST connectivity at the earliest. Earlier, the MLA also unveiled the plaque marking the opening of the road. Superintendent Engineer of Zunheboto PWD, L Senti Jamir in his technical report lauded the two villages for completing the fresh cutting ahead of the schedule and as per the schedule. He said the fresh construction started in June and was completed by October. Various cultural programmes also marked the inaugural function.
