Night curfew reinforced in Sivsagar-Nagaland border
Mokokchung, May 30 (DIPR): The Additional District Magistrate, Sivasagar, Assam has reinforced night curfew from 6:00pm to 6:00am in the 5 km belt in Assam side of Sivasagar district bordering Nagaland state. The curfew was enforced with effect from April 18 for a period of 60 days. ADM, Sivasagar in an order said night curfew has been imposed as a precautionary measure to prevent occurrence of anti-social elements/extremist/unlawful activities coming across the Assam /Nagaland border in the belt of Sivasagar district. It was added that movement of any person/ group of persons/any vehicular traffics are prohibited during the period of night curfew. However, Magistrate, Security personnel of Army/CRPF/Police and civil officials deployed on duty are exempted from the purview of the prohibitory order.
AR arrest elephant poacher along with illegal arms
Wokha, May 30 (MExN): Wokha Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted a search operation at Meshangpen, Sanis Wokha district on May 27. AR informed in a press release that during the search Assam Rifles troops apprehended “one elephant poacher along with illegal arms and ammunition.” The individual was identified as Nchumbemo Jami (39 years), residents of Meshangpen Vill, Wokha District. The recoveries included one 303 Rifle with Magazine, five live cartridge of 303 and one mobile phone. The individual along with recovered items was handed over to Sanis Police Station on May 28 and an FIR lodged in Sanis Police Station.
