SBI Pungro appealed to issue lower denomination notes Pungro, January 14 (MExN): The Public Forum Pungro Sub-Division (PFPSD) has appealed to the State Bank of India (SBI), Pungro branch to issue lower denomination notes of Rs. 500, Rs. 100 and Rs. 50. A press release from PFPSD stated that the bank has reportedly been issuing Rs. 2000 notes only, “thus causing immense hardship to the people of rural area for their business transaction.” President of PFPSD, S. Kiusumew Yimchunger stated that the currency note of Rs. 2000 has affected the general public of Pungro sub-division, including the business community and public, because of shortage of change. Therefore, the PFPSD on behalf of the general public of Pungro sub-division has requested the SBI branch to issue smaller notes to the general public to ensure smooth transaction of business and other related works. Fellowship with 44 Assam Rifles Dimapur, January 14 (MExN): A fellowship programme was held between 44 Assam Rifles and social leaders on January 9. The occasion hosted by the Commandant and all officers of 44 Assam Rifles was graced by social leaders headed by Rev. Dr. Mar Atsongchanger, Executive Secretary, ABAM, Impur, an AR press note informed. The fellowship commenced with a musical performance by the Assam Rifles band which was followed by speech from the guests, it said.
