160 kg of ganja seized Dimapur, January 17 (MExN): The Narcotic Cell (NC) of Excise Department recovered around 160 kg of ganja from a vehicle (Esteem) bearing registration number DL4CH- 0985 at Chumukedima area on January 15 around 11:30 am. The vehicle was going to Manipur from Dimapur. The lone occupant of the vehicle identified as John Maram was arrested, informed a press release from S. Phyobemo Kikon, Superintendent of Excise (NC). All formalities of the case has been done for violation of Sec 20 of NDPS ACT'85 and forwarded to the court for further necessary investigation and trial under appropriate section of the law, it added.     BLOs of Dimapur district informed Dimapur, January 17 (MExN): In connection to the replacement of black and white and not upto specification images in the photo electoral roll with good quality, colour images, Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur has informed all the BLOs of the district to report to the Lotha Hoho Ki near DC office junction, Dimapur on January 19 as follows: BLOs of 1 Dimapur I A/C, 2 Dimapur II A/C and 3 Dimapur III A/C at 11:00 am; BLOs of 4 Ghaspani I A/C and 5 Ghaspani II A/C at 1:00 pm.     DMC reminds to renew trade licenses Dimapur, January 17 (MExN): Administrator of Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), H Atokhe Aye has once again informed all the traders/ business establishments/ shopkeepers under DMC jurisdiction that the renewal of DMC trade licenses for the year 2017 has already started. Therefore, all the traders have been asked to get their respective trade licenses renewed on or before January 31, 2017 to avoid penalty.     Fire breaks out in Mon Town Mon, January 17 (MExN): A fire broke out in a jungle at Forest Colony, below District Forest office, Mon Town. The fire which was suspected to have been ignited by people washing clothes at a nearby river spread rapidly and burnt more than 15,000 sq meters of jungle, almost engulfing some houses, according to a press release. The fire was brought under control by the Fire Service personnel, police and public. The release mentioned that fire incidents in the same location/spot have become a yearly event, causing alarm and tension to the nearby residents and the general public of Mon Town. No loss of life or damage to personal property was reported.     Free computer training Kohima, January 17 (MExN): Interested candidates who have passed class X have been invited for free computer training (MS Word, MS Power Point, MS Excel, Photoshop and Corel Draw) for a period of three months at Government Polytechnic, Kohima under Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Gandhi Institute of Computer Education & Information Technology. The training will be held three days in a week – two hours per day. A press release from principal of Government Polytechnic, Kohima informed that the training will start from February 1 and selection will be done on first come first served basis.     NPGN/NNC (N/A) terminates one Dimapur, January 17 (MExN): Imkongsenup Ao, PS to President of NPGN/NNC (N/A) has been terminated from the Naga national service with effect from January 17, 2017 “for violation of the Azha of the land.” Hence, a press release from Secretary, Ministry of Killo Affairs, NPGN/NNC (N/A) has informed all individuals and organizations not to entertain him on any government/ official matter. “In case of failure to comply to this notice any individual/ organization shall be considered as doing at their own risk,” the release stated.     Rukizu colony condemns rape; expels accused from colony Pfutsero, January 17 (MExN): Leaders of Rukizu colony, Pfutsero Town on behalf of the colony have condemned the rape that took place in the colony on December 14. The rape was allegedly committed by Rüvütou Medeo on a physically challenged minor. The accused has been expelled from the colony jurisdiction, according to a press release from Veshe Tureng, General Secretary; Verasu Kezo, Chairman; Niehuta Chotso, GB of Rukizu colony; and Huto Theluo, President, Rukizu Youth Organization. Further, the colony urged upon the authorities to punish the accused in the “strongest possible manner.”
