Honda Cars India recalls over 22,800 units New Delhi, January 19 (IANS): Automobile manufacturer Honda Cars India (HCIL) on Friday recalled 22,834 vehicles as part of its “precautionary global recall” to fix a faulty passenger-facing front airbag. “HCIL today announced that it will voluntarily replace Takata passenger front airbag inflators of 22,834 vehicles of 2013 model of Accord, City and Jazz as part of Honda’s precautionary global recall campaign concerning Takata front airbag inflators,” the company said in a statement. “The replacement will be carried out free of cost at HCIL dealerships across India in a phased manner starting from 19th January 2018, and the company will communicate with customers directly.” Tribunal refuses to lift SEBI ban on Price Waterhouse MUMBAI, January 19 (Reuters): India’s Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) said on Friday that Price Waterhouse can continue to service existing clients whose financial year started on Jan. 1 2018, but it refused to grant a stay on a two-year audit ban ordered by the market regulator. The markets regulator, Securities and Exchange Board of India, last week barred Price Waterhouse from auditing listed companies in the country for two years, after a probe into a nearly decade-old accounting fraud case in a software services company that became India’s biggest corporate scandal. It had however allowed Price Waterhouse to continue auditing books for the current fiscal year ending in March. Western Digital unveils Next-Gen storage drives New Delhi, January 19 (IANS): Global data storage company Western Digital on Friday announced that it is expanding its portfolio for enterprise customers with a new, mid-range series of 4TB, 6TB and 8TB hard drives. The new products help corporate data centres having data-set sizes smaller than ones in hyper-scale environments to harness the power of data in applications such as analytics and distributed file systems, the company said in a statement. “Our new enterprise solutions blend the technology and total cost of ownership of Western Digital’s capacity enterprise product line will allow OEMs to offer data centres a solution to keep Big Data on-premises, rather than transition entirely to the Cloud,” Brendan Collins, Vice President of Marketing, Devices Business Unit at Western Digital, said in a statement. WhatsApp launches ‘Business’ app for small & medium enterprises NEW DELHI, January 19 (PTI): Popular messaging platform WhatsApp today unveiled a new ‘WhatsApp Business’ app, aimed at small and medium enterprises. The free-to-download Android app will make it easier for companies to connect with customers, as well as its 1.3 billion users to chat with businesses, WhatsApp said in a statement. WhatsApp Business is available today and free to download on Google Play in Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, the UK and the US, it added. The app will be rolled out around the world in the coming weeks, it said. Over 80% of small businesses in India and Brazil said WhatsApp helped them both communicate with customers and grow their business, the Facebook owned company said citing reports. India is home to over 200 million WhatsApp users. It has more than one billion users globally.
