BJP National delegates visit Nagaland Dimapur, July 4 (MExN): BJP National Joint General Secretary (Organisation) V. Satish and delegates who are visiting Nagaland were received by the State BJP President Visasolie Lhoungu and party members on July 4 in Dimapur before their departure to Kohima. The delegates will meet State party officials, Core Committee Members, MLAs and other leaders during their two-day stay. The National Joint General Secretary (Org) will also inaugurate the State party office at CK Arcade, opposite Head Post Office, DC Hill, Kohima on July 5 at 10:00 am. One from NSCN (K) joins NSCN (R) Dimapur, July 4 (MExN): The NSCN (Reformation) has welcomed Captain Akahoto of Viyixe village, who joined its group from NSCN (K) recently. In a press release issued by its MIP, the NSCN (R) further expressed gratitude to Capt Akahoto for his “bold and wise decision in right time in order to determine the future of the Naga peoples and nation as well.” AR creates awareness on drug abuse in Wokha Wokha, July 4 (MExN): The 28 Assam Rifles conducted a drug abuse awareness programme and felicitated the recovered drug addicts of Wokha District on June 30. According to a defence release, the aim of the programme was to spread awareness amongst the youth about the ill effects of drug addiction. The unit Regimental Medical Officer Captain Satya Prakash attended the programme and exhorted the youth on the various steps to be taken for de-addiction from drugs and the advantages of following a healthy life style. The 28 AR also gave a token of appreciation to the people who underwent the rehabilitation programme. BJYM Nagaland creates awareness on GST Dimapur, July 4 (MExN): The BJYM Nagaland in accordance with the National BJYM organized various programmes in Dimapur on June 30 to mark the announcement of GST roll out on July 1. K. Vikuho Dominic, President, BJYM Nagaland in a press release said that the State office bearers along with Dimapur District BJYM team conducted programmes to create awareness on the benefits of implementing GST. The BJYM team held several interactive sessions across different business communities and centralized locations like New Market area, Marwari Patti Durga Mandir junction etc. In the final destination at the busy Dimapur Railway Stations, transit passengers were briefed on the benefits of GST and light refreshments were distributed to celebrate the event, it added. KLBC Vacation Bible School concludes Kohima, July 4 (MExN): The Kohima Liangmai Baptist Church Sunday School Department’s Vacation Bible School, which began on June 29, concluded on July 1. The VBS was conducted at the church premises with Akumla Walling, Neiheni Kire, and Nyanpha Konyak as the resource persons. Held under the theme ‘Just Like Jesus’, the praise & worship was led by the Faith Harvest Church Grace Ministry during the programme. The church Sunday School Superintendent Narola Newmai expressed gratitude to all the resource persons and Grace Ministry team for their time and imparting their knowledge to the Liangmai children. She also handed over prizes to the children who won in several competitions held during the VBS. Rotary Club of Dimapur installs new officials Dimapur, July 4 (MExN): Rotary Club of Dimapur organised its 46th installation ceremony along with Rotaract Club of Dimapur at Rotary Center, Midland on July 1. Installation officer cum chief guest PDG Chandu Agarwal congratulated the new team and office bearers. Rtn Vijay Sharma took over as president alongwith Rtn Subir Saha as Secretary for the year 2017-18. Assam Rifles seize liquor, drugs Wokha, July 4 (MExN): 28 Assam Rifles carried out a search operation at Foot Hill road junction in Wokha jurisdiction on July 3 and seized illegal Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and drugs being smuggled from Assam into Nagaland, informed a press release from Assam Rifles. The seized items comprising 39 cases of IMFL and 12,300 drug tables amounting to around Rs 6.9 lakhs were found hidden in a Mahindra Bolero bearing registration number AS 03 AC 7138. The items were recovered from three persons whom the release identified as Yitsabemo Kikon (28), Mhoneh Lotha (54) and Wopamo Lotha (36). They were handed over to Bhandari Police Station alongwith the seized items. An FIR against the individuals has also been lodged by Assam Rifles at Bhandari Police Station.
