Asu Keyho resigns from Congress   Kohima, July 11 (MExN): Ex MLA Asu Keyho, member AICC and former PRO, Mizoram has resigned as AICC member and also as Active & Primary member of Indian National Congress (INC). In a resignation letter to the AICC President, New Delhi, he stated, “…the INC present leadership has become irrelevant in the State of Nagaland to face the challenges of the present time, as such I wish to tender my resignation from AICC membership including Active & Primary membership of the INC with immediate effect.” The resignation letter was also addressed to president Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee, president Kohima DCC, and president ACCC 8th Western Angami A/C.     Nagaland students to interact with Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor   Dimapur, July 11 (MExN): As part of Jio Digital Campus events, Jio creates live, digital, interactive events with celebrities and experts from various fields at regular intervals. Such interactions, Jio believes, will help students immensely, in expanding their horizons.   Jio is back with another exciting episode of their interactive events under the Jio Digital Campus Program. This time they will have Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor interacting with college students of Eastern Christian College, Dimapur and Mount Olive College, Kohima. The event is planned on July 12 from 1:00 pm. In past, Jio has organized Jio Talk events with eminent personalities like Amitabh Bachchan and Tapasee Pannu, Rajiv Vaishnav, Dr. Devdutt Pattanaik, Alia Bhatt, Prasoon Joshi and many more to benefit college students in the North East.     Kiphire pensioners informed   Kiphire, July 11 (MExN): All the pensioners (both live and family) drawing pension from the Kiphire Treasury have been informed that physical verification will be held at the Treasury office during office hours as per the following schedule: August 8-9 – Live pensioners; August 10-11 – Family pensioners. Treasury Officer, Kiphire has requested all the pensioners to appear physically as per the dates mentioned above.     MCD informs students   Dimapur, July 11 (MExN): The Muslim Council Dimapur (MCD) has informed all Muslim students of Nagaland who have secured 70% and above in their HSLC and HSSLC examination 2017 to submit a copy of their mark sheet and two passport size photos and contact number to the MCD on or before July 20. The marksheet should be attested by the head of the institution from where he or she has passed out, informed a press release from MCD. The MCD Education Board Convenor Mujibur Rahman (9436075680) and office bearer Kurban Ahmed (9436260283) may be contacted for submission of the documents. The date for the Annual Nagaland Muslim Students Felicitation Programme will be announced at a later stage, the release added.     DUCCF extends date for Clean Election meeting   Dimapur, July 11 (MExN): Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) at its emergency general meeting held on July 10 decided to extend the last date for the urban colonies which are yet to conduct Clean Election meeting. Colonies’ chairmen and councils have been reminded to form the Colony Clean Election Committee and carry out the general meeting in support of Clean Election campaign within the month of July. This exercise must be completed on or before July 31, 2017, stated a press release from DUCCF information & publicity secretary, Simon Kelio. Further, every colony must submit to DUCCF office a report and a copy of Colony Clean Election Committee members’ name and contact numbers before August 10, 2017.     Excise mobile squad seize drugs   Dimapur, July 11 (MExN): The Excise Mobile Squad Special Surveillance Team on a tip-off conducted a raid and seized 180 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon and 138 tablets of Nitrosun from the residence of one Akuto at Burma Camp, Dimapur on July 11. A press release from Katoho Sumi, Superintendent of Excise (MS) informed that the accused has been charged under relevant section of Drugs & Cosmetics Act 1940 and handed over to the Court for trial. The Superintendent has appealed to the licensed pharmacies to be vigilant and cautious while selling restricted drugs such as Spasmo Proxyvon, Nitrosun and cough syrup containing codeine to patients/public without proper medical prescription.
