
Legislators asked to cast vote for presidential poll Kohima, July 14 (MExN): Commissioner & Secretary, Nagaland Legislative Assembly & Assistant Returning Officer, N. Benjamin Newmai has reminded that the election to the office of the President of India is scheduled for July 17, Monday. Therefore, all members of the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly have been informed to cast their vote from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm in the Annexe Hall of the Assembly Secretariat. Abhijit Sinha takes charge as CEO Kohima, July 14 (DIPR): The Election Department in a press release has informed that as per the Election Commission of India and Government of Nagaland notifications, Abhijit Sinha (IAS) has taken over the charge of the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland on July 13. One arrested for extortion Dimapur, July 14 (MExN): One Vishika Achumi was arrested on charges of extortion by the Anti Extortion Team (AET) under Zone-II of Dimapur Police on July 5 from Circular road, Dimapur. He was found in possession of documents of the NNC/GDRN, a press release from the PRO, Dimapur Police informed. Narcotic Cell registers 71 violations Dimapur, July 14 (MExN): The Narcotic Cell of the Excise Department registered 71 violations under various acts during the month of June. A press release from the office of the Commissioner of Excise giving a break-up of the cases registered reported 68 offences under the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition Act, 1989. The remaining three were registered under the NDPS Act 1985 and the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940. 3200 tablets of Amphetamine drugs, 270 kgs of contraband ganja, 7920 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon and 700 gms of Opium were seized under the two acts. The arrested persons were forwarded to the judiciary, the release informed. NPF Dimapur appeals Dimapur, July 14 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) Dimapur Division has made a fervent prayer to the legislators who camped at Kaziranga to “come forward and sort out the internal differences”. A press release from the division while stating that the ongoing political crises is an “internal conflict” within the party, insisted that the issue can be tackled positively by way of negotiation. In this regard, the NPF Dimapur appealed to the party legislators to sort out their differences keeping in mind the common interest of the NPF party and the people of Nagaland. PMEGP interview for Wokha Wokha, July 14 (MExN): The interview for PMEGP, 2017-18, DIC and NKVIB, under Wokha district will be held on July 21 from 10:00 am onwards in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner. Requisition of vehicles for by-election Kohima, July 14 (DIPR): The Election Department in a notification dated July 7 informed the Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Kohima to act on behalf of the State Government for requisitioning of vehicles, premises etc. for the by-election to 10-Northern Angami-1 (ST) Assembly Constituency. Any vehicle, premises etc. belonging to private persons or institution/organization so requisitioned shall be entitled for compensation under Sec. 161 of the R.P. Act of 1951. World Population Control Fortnight in Mkg Mokokchung, July 14 (DIPR): The Medical Department is conducting World Population Control Fortnight in Mokokchung from July 11 to 24. The objective of the programme is to stabilize population growth in the country. According to DPO RCH & UIP, Mokokchung, Dr. Temsuyanger, the department has made arrangement in the District Hospital Mokokchung to provide free tubal ligation service and an incentive of Rs. 600/- for those who avail the service. The programme also includes free Copper T INSERT IGNOREion at Community Health Centre (CHCs) and Primary Health Centre (PHCs). Free treatment, pregnancy test for women, birth control pills and condoms can be availed from nearest health centres, including Sub-Centre and ASHAs.
