Chizami Village expels one Chizami, July 20 (MExN): The Chizami Village Council together with the Thopi clan has expelled one Wewube Thopi “for his repeated involvement in anti-social activities”. A press release from the village council stating this informed that his citizenship has been withdrawn “with immediate effect”. In this regard, the Council cautioned that individual/groups dealing with him will be doing so at their own risk. The Council also warned of “stringent actions” against any individual/groups indulging in detrimental activities and maligning the “good image of the village”. Governor congratulates Kovind Kohima, July 20 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya has congratulated Ram Nath Kovind on being elected as the President of India. In a congratulatory message, Governor Acharya expressed confidence that under Kovind’s leadership, India will reach the “Guru’s position” in the world as peaceful and prosperous Nation. “My wife Kavita joins me in sending you and your family our best wishes for the future. We look forward to meeting you in Delhi,” the Governor’s message added. V. Horam elevated to Steering Committee Executive Kohima, July 20 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN has informed that former MIP Kilonser V. Horam has been elevated to Executive of the Steering Committee. A press release from the MIP informing this stated that it was issuing the statement in the interest of the public to clear the confusion on “speculation and rumor in print and social media” subsequent to the relinquishing of the office of MIP Kilonser recently by Horam. The MIP bade him a heartfelt farewell and wishes him the best in his new and higher assignment, the release added. Two electrocuted in Dimapur Dimapur, July 20 (MExN): Two persons were electrocuted in separate incidents in Dimapur, the Dimapur Police informed. In the first incident, one Dipak Kumar Choudhury, a resident of Dhobinalla, Dimapur was electrocuted on July 19 while trying to move an inverter from his flood-affected house. In the other incident, one Sunil Kumar Singh, a resident of Ura Colony Dimapur, was electrocuted on July 20 while collecting his belongings from the flood-affected house. Viswema Officers condemn Kohima, July 20 (MExN): The Viswema Gazette Officers’ Krotho (VGOK) has expressed dismay at the alleged man-handling of one of its members, Er. Vimetwe Pusa, SDO (R&B) and Er. Akheto, EE PWD (R&B) Peren Division, on July 19, by some youths. According to a press release from the Krotho, the two were on official government duty to take stock of the washing away of the road crossing (by-passing bridge) due to incessant rains over the last few days when the alleged man-handling took place. Expressing strong objection to the unruly behavior, the VGOK requested that the Administration and the Police take stringent action against the culprits as per the law.
