
Samsung cuts Galaxy A5, A7 prices ahead of festive season New delhi, August 18 (IANS): South Korean tech giant Samsung has cut prices for its bestselling ‘Galaxy A5 and A7 smartphones (both 2017 variants) ahead of the festive season in India. ‘Galaxy’ A5 (Rs 26,900) and A7 (Rs 30,900) would now cost Rs 22,900 and Rs 25,900, respectively. The phones are now available at revised prices, starting August 14, the company said in a statement on Friday. In March, Samsung India had launched 5.7-inch Galaxy A7 and 5.2-inch Galaxy A5 in the country at Rs 33,490 and Rs 28,990, respectively. The ‘Galaxy A’ series smartphones offer water and dust resistance, feature aluminium frame, 3D-curved glass back and support fast-charging and dual-SIM connectivity. Both A5 and A7 devices are powered by 1.9GHz octa-core processor paired up with 3GB of RAM, features 16MP front and rear camera and runs on Android Marshmallow operating system. SpiceJet to hike excess baggage fee from Rs 100 to Rs 300/kg New Delhi, August 18 (PTI): SpiceJet plans to hike the fee charged for excess baggage to Rs 300 per kg, sources said a day after the Delhi High Court set aside capping of fee for excess checked-in baggage on private airlines. The court, on Wednesday, set aside the Rs 100 per kg fee cap fixed by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for excess checked-in baggage of 15-20 kg. Sources said the airline plans to increase the excess baggage fee to Rs 300 per kg from the current level of Rs 100. A SpiceJet spokesperson could not be immediately contacted. As per the DGCA circular, issued in June 2016, private airlines were directed to charge only Rs 100 per extra kg till 20 kg as against their earlier rates, ranging from Rs 220 to Rs 350. The circular had come into effect from July 1 last year as the court had not stayed it or deferred the date of implementation. The DGCA in its circular had said that the airlines would be free to charge any fee beyond 20 kg of excess baggage. Currently, all domestic carriers allow free checked-in baggage up to 15 kg. Only Air India allows free baggage up to 23 kg. Nissan India rolls out waterless car washing solution New Delhi, August 18 (PTI): Japanese automaker Nissan today launched waterless car washing solution at its service centres in India. The solution comes as a part of the seventh edition of its ‘Happy with Nissan’ service campaign which will be conducted at 148 Nissan and Datsun service outlets across the country from August 17-24. “We are introducing waterless car cleaning solution as part of the seventh iteration of the customer-friendly ‘Happy with Nissan’ service campaign,” Nissan Motor India Managing Director Arun Malhotra said in a statement. The innovative car wash material does not require any additional water to clean a car after being applied to car surfaces, he added. The technique will save around 2.8 million litres of water during the eight-day campaign and around 130 million litres per year, Nissan India said. Nissan Motor India is a 100 per cent subsidiary of Japan’s Nissan Motor Co. Nissan in India sells a range of vehicles under two brands -- Nissan and Datsun.
