Campaign to promote online electricity bill payment Kohima, September 2 (MExN): Department of Power, Nagaland is organising an awareness and demonstration campaign to promote online electricity bill payment for Dimapur, Chumukedima and Kohima consumers (Phase-I) from September 6 to 10. Department officials will be available for assistance at all electricity bill payment counters and ideally located government offices to assist the consumers in paying their electricity bill online, said a press release from Chief Engineer (D&R), Department of Power. Consumers have been requested to bring the following for availing the facility: A copy of their latest electricity bill (in case it is unavailable, bring consumer number); Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Net Banking details. It was informed that the Phase-II will be carried out for the consumers of Mon, Tuensang, Wokha, Zunheboto, and Phek from September 10 onwards. NAAC peer team to visit Kohima College Kohima, September 2 (MExN): The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) peer team will visit Kohima College, Kohima for second cycle of assessment and accreditation of the institution on September 4 and 5. The team will assess the teaching, learning and research activities of the faculty and students of the college, library and other facilities during their visit. The team will also interact with all stakeholders- Alumni Association, members of the Parents Teacher Association and Community members. The college was accredited by NAAC in 2012 and was awarded with B grade. Duncan Bosti Council condemns AR raid Dimapur, September 2 (MExN): The Duncan Bosti Council (DBC) has condemned the raid by Assam Rifles on the private residence of Robert Odyuo, a resident of Duncan Bosti on August 24. In a statement issued by its chairman, Yangertoshi Ao, the council termed the act of Assam Rifles as “gross and random violation of human rights.” Meanwhile, the council appealed to the Assam Rifles or security forces not to carry out such “unnecessary random house searches on innocent civilians without prior and proper specific information by taking advantage of AFSPA or DAA.” Such conducts of Assam Rifles, it said, “only creates public ire and resentment towards the army and agitate peaceful atmosphere in civilian areas.” Further, the DBC appealed to the highest command/ authority of Army to urgently look into the matter in order to maintain peaceful public-army relationship. Tseminyu Union dissolved Tseminyu, September 2 (MExN): The Tseminyu Union has been dissolved in a meeting held between the Tseminyu Union and Tseminyu Tsipwen Youth Organisation on July 23. Henceforth, using the name of Tseminyu Union by any individual stands null and void till further decision is made jointly by its constituent units, stated a press release from Obed Tsela, president, TZYO; Njulo Tep, president, TYOTT; Asinlo Kent, general secretary, TVYO; Tsemi Ami Khing, president, TSVYO/TOTYO. In case of any individual or group using the name of Tseminyu Union, the Tseminyu Tsipwen Youth Organization will take its own course of action against the individual/party involved, it cautioned.
