Assam Rifles respond to raid allegation

Kohima, October 23 (MExN): Apropos the news item published on October 22 regarding alleged house raid by Assam Rifles in Kohima on October 19, the PRO of HQ IGAR (North) has stated that the allegations of search, theft of ATM cards and harassment are “baseless and is a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of Assam Rifles.” In a rejoinder, the PRO, Lt Col Amitabh Sharma said that Assam Rifles troops had conducted an operation along with local police representative based on specific information about the presence of NSCN (K) members at the residence of Rusada Curhah in Jail Colony, Kohima. “However on arrival at his residence it was learnt that no insurgents were present. Hence, no search was carried out,” it added.  

KDLSA conducts legal awareness programme

Kohima, October 23 (MExN): Kohima District Legal Services Authority (KDLSA) conducted legal awareness programme at Town Hall in Tseminyu on October 23. Hisinlo Himb, Panel Lawyer spoke on Village Council Act. He briefed about legal services and stressed on the powers, functions and duties of the village council members and village administration. Speaking on Tribal Rights, Panel Lawyer Keduvi Zhotso meanwhile dwelled on educational reservation, health care, tribal linguistic, land and property, informed a press release. Nenli Kez, Panel Lawyer, spoke on poverty alleviation and discussed 11 schemes regarding it. It was followed by interactive session. The programme was chaired by Gwatilo Kent, PLV and welcome address by Theodore Yanthan, ADC Tseminyu. It was attended by members of Rengma Hoho, student bodies, village council and villagers from different villages under Tseminyu sub-division .  

New members inducted in BJP Media Cell

Dimapur, October 23 (MExN): In compliance with the State BJP office order dated October 13, the State Convenor of Media Cell, BJP Nagaland, K. James Vizo has constituted the Cell with the following persons: K. James Vizo – convenor; Kuputo Shuhe, Yanghose Sangtam, Merulhoutuo Virie, H.Makum Yimchunger, Longshithung Kikon, Lima Longchar – Members. Expressing appreciation to the BJP State President for entrusting the responsibilities to the team with full confidence, the Media Cell, BJP Nagaland in a press release reminded all the party workers that their priority is to serve nation and State first with all round development followed by party and family.
