Body found in Dhansiri river
Dimapur, October 25 (MExN): An unidentified body of a woman aged around 25-30 years was recovered from Dhansiri river near Ekhyo village, Domokia. It is suspected to be a case of drowning, according to a press release. Post mortem has been conducted and the body kept at District Hospital Dimapur morgue for identification.
Dengue: Social work to remove stagnant water from households
Dimapur, October 25 (MExN): In view of the serious outbreak of dengue in and around the Dimapur municipal area, Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) Administrator has informed all the citizens under Dimapur municipality that on October 28 starting 8:00 am, there will be a mass social work for removal of stagnant water in respective households. Therefore, all residents of Dimapur municipal area have been informed to completely remove/drain stagnant water within their respective house compounds. In a press release, the DMC Administrator, Moa Sangtam informed the colony chairman/GBs to monitor the social work and also authorized them to impose a fine of Rs 100/- if they find any household with stagnant water within their compound.
DBS offers Chhath greetings
Dimapur, October 25 (MExN): The president of Dimapur Bangali Samaj (DBS) KK Paul, Advocate, on behalf of the Samaj has extended greetings to all the Chhath Vratis and the devout followers on the occasion of Chhath Mahaparv. Paul congratulated those from the community who are observing the “vrat”. “May this parv usher in the blessings of Chhathi Maiya and Suryadev to one and all,” he added.
WCH lauds arrest of NSCN (K) cadres
Dimapur, October 25 (MExN): Lauding the arrest of two NSCN (K) cadres involved in the attempt on the life of L. Doulo, proprietor of Kuda cold storage in Dimapur, Western Chakhesang Hoho (WCH) has warned the legal fraternity or any party not to move bail for the accused under any circumstances. On the other hand, it demanded that befitting punishment be awarded to the accused at the earliest. “If such hardcore goons threatening the life of the peace loving hardworking citizens are not put behind the bar, the laws of the land will have no meaning…,” stated a press release from Vekhosayi Nyekha, Western Chakhesang Hoho.
CAMA condemns alleged murder
Kohima, October 25 (MExN): The Chozuba Area Mothers’ Association (CAMA) has condemned the alleged killing of a woman on September 20 at Bayavu Hill colony, Kohima. Asserting that it strongly stands against such heinous crime against womenfolk, CAMA in a statement extended full support to Chozubami Welfare Forum Kohima and its president for their efficient work towards justice. The association further appealed to the administration and the police department to ensure befitting punishment to the accused as “investigation proved his crime beyond doubt” through post mortem, lie detector etc. It also appealed to the public and organizations to continue to stand firm in working towards eradicating “evil elements” in the society.
PDLCGF tour to Sikkim
Phek, October 25 (MExN): 20 farmers from Phek District Large Cardamom Growers’ Federation (PDLCGF) undertook an exposure tour to Sikkim from October 8 to 15 under the sponsorship of Razouvolie Dozo, Project Director, District Rural Development Agency Phek. PDLCGF in a press release said the tour studied the system of pre and post harvest of large cardamom, system of drying up and marketing channels etc. thereby getting updated on the progressive management being undertaken by the farmers from Sikkim. The team was led by Chuba Jamir, Program Officer, DRDA Phek.
