Rio greets Lotha Community

Dimapur, November 5 (MExN): The Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) Neiphiu Rio has extended warm greetings to the members of Lotha community on the joyful occasion of Tokhu Emong. Terming the festivity as a time to cherish and enjoy the cultural practices handed down from the ancestors, the MP stated in a message that it is also the time time to give thanks to God for His abundant blessings. He further said that it is the time to “revive and strengthen friendships and relationships, a time to forgive, a time to bid farewell to the preceding year and seek Almighty God’s continued blessings.” Rio also expressed happiness upon the extension of restricted holiday to two days and hoped that the premier festival will be celebrated with pomp and gaiety.  

NPF sit-in protest to continue

Kohima, November 5 (MExN): The 11th day sit- in- protest by Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu led Naga People’s Front (NPF) Central Youth Wing will start by 12 Noon on November 6. The dharna will be addressed by MLA Yitachu, NPF farmers’ wing president Lanukaba and NPF Central Office Secretary Toniho Sheqi. It will be chaired by Kiutsumong JK, Secretary Central Youth Wing while vote of thanks will be proposed by Nzanbemo Lotha, general secretary central youth wing.  

44 Assam Rifles flag off integration tour for farmers

Dimapur, November 5 (MExN): The 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N)) flagged off a National Integration Tour for farmers of Nagaland to Himachal Pradesh on November 2. A total of 22 farmers, two each from all the 11 districts of Nagaland, are part of the tour.   Commandant 44 AR, in the presence of other dignitaries of the district flagged off the tour, a PRO HQ IGAR (North) press release informed. The flagging-off of the tour from Mokokchung included an interaction with the farmers, Ungma village council, heads of Ao Senden, Ao Student’s Conference and civil administration dignitaries, including Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung and ADC, it said.   The aim of the tour is to integrate the distinct cultural and social ethos of the nation and to familiarize the farmers from remote areas of North-East to agricultural advancements in Himachal Pradesh which has similar terrain and climatic conditions, it added.   The NIT tour will conclude on November 13. Major Gulshan Kumar, along with his administration staff has been entrusted with the responsibility for smooth conduct of the tour, the release said.
