NPF general convention in Kohima today

Kohima, November 21 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) will hold a general convention 2017 on November 22 at Kohima Local Ground from 10:55 am onwards. NPF president Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu will deliver presidential address. Short speeches will be delivered by W. Morung Makunga, president Manipur state unit, Haapa Taidong, President Arunachal state unit, C.L. John, MLA and Member CEC, Y. Vikheho Swu, MLA and member CEC and Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, MLA, leader of NPF Legislature Party and member CEC. The convention will also witness conduct of business, adoption of resolution etc.  

1st NDMSA Biennial Conference today

Kohima, November 21 (MExN): The Nagaland Directorate Ministerial Service Association (NDMSA) will be holding its 1st Biennial Conference at Molu Ki, Merhülietsa, Kohima on November 22. Chief Secretary to Government of Nagaland will grace the occasion as the chief guest.  

Goyal assumes charge as Pr Secy to Governor

Advocacy prog on HIV/AIDS held at Atoizu

Zunheboto, November 21 (MExN): The Atoizu Range Students’ Union (ARSU) organized a one-day advocacy programme on HIV/AIDS at Atoizu town under the Zunheboto District on November 15. The programme, sponsored by the Legislators Forum on AIDS Kohima, was attended by Church leaders, GBs, VDB Secretaries, women leaders etc. The advocacy programme ended with interaction session where some of the misconceptions and doubts relating to HIV/AIDS were clarified, a press release from the union informed.  

BJP Nagaland mourns

Dimapur, November 21 (MExN): The Nagaland State BJP has expressed sadness to have learned of the the untimely demise of Dorine Maringmei, wife of State Executive Member, James Akham of Zeliangrong village, Dimapur and Headmistress of Mother Mary Primary School, on November 19 at Pune. “The party condole the unfortunate loss and convey the concern and prayers for the departed soul and strength for the family in this hour of grief. May her soul rest in peace,” a message from the state BJP read.  

AR claims arrest of FGN cadre

Pfutsero, November 21 (MExN): The Assam Rifles have claimed the arrest of an FGN cadre from Kami Road Junction under Pfutsero Sub Division on November 18. According to a press release, the 9 AR during an operation apprehended the FGN cadre, identified as one Mesengulo Wetsah, 36 years, and recovered one 7.62 MM Rifle along with one Magazine and five live rounds .The cadre was subsequently handed over to Pfutsero Police Station for further investigation.  

Two held for power theft

Dimapur, November 21 (MExN): The Electrical Department on November 20 apprehended 2 persons for illegal connection of electricity. According to a press release from the Executive Engineer of the Dimapur Electrical Division, Er. Imsenkaba, the duo, identified as Sayan Nayak and Sanjay Nayak, was caught for illegally providing electrical connections to 5 houses in the adjoining areas. Bearing consumer No.12000002378, they illegally by-passed the meter box and were making a business out of illegal connection for the last two years by collecting Rs.300 per month per house. The two were handed over to East Police station for further interrogation.

  2 NSCN (IM) tax collectors held

Dimapur, November 21 (MExN): The Dimapur Police Crime Branch (CID) arrested two persons on November 11 for collecting illegal taxes in the name of NSCN (IM) from truckers near Dimapur Railway station area. The two were identified as Kabir Ahmed, Raja peyu in the NSCN (IM) and a resident of Dimapur Court Charali, and Nazmul Islam, a resident of Naga Bazar, Dimapur. One .32 pistol, 5 live rounds, 2580 Spasmo Proxyvon Capsules, and duplicate receipt booklet were recovered from their possession. Accordingly a case has been registered at GRPS for further investigation.
