Tribal bodies’ core committee lauds revocation of cabinet decision on ULBs
Kohima, December 15 (MExN): The Core Committee of the Apex Tribal Hohos/Bodies of Nagaland, which had been persuading the Government of Nagaland to revoke the November 24, 2016 resolution of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly regarding elections to Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), has lauded the revocation of the same. The resolution was revoked on December 15 by the assembly during the winter session. In a press statement, the Core Committee hoped that the “Government of Nagaland through the Nagaland Legislative Assembly’s latest resolution shall be able to restore with sincerity, the trust deficit in the Naga society and instil astuteness to create a congenial atmosphere for an optimistic treatise at all levels of authority and provide an excellent governance in the interest of the people.”
CVO Zunheboto informs
Zunheboto, December 15 (MExN): The Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) of Zunheboto, Dr. Toshi Aier has informed the Village Council Chairmen under Zunheboto district regarding fertility awareness campaigns to be held in selected villages for dairy farmers and interested individuals. He said the flag off event will be held on December 18, 10:00 am at Kitami village for five villages, then at Ghatashi council hall for four villages of Ghatashi area on December 19. For the other sub divisional villages, the schedule will be informed from the office, he said in a press release. The CVO has requested all the village authorities concerned to send the dairy farmers and interested individuals from respective village as per the department officials’ requisition to attend the programme.

NPP appeals to create awareness on electricity
Dimapur, December 15 (MExN): The National People's Party (NPP) Nagaland State has appealed to all the citizens of Nagaland to join hands together and cooperate to create awareness about electricity, and help government maintain stable supply of power. Meanwhile, the party in a statement lauded the efforts of Power department officials in restoring and commissioning the transformer in Dimapur despite heavy financial constraint faced by the department.
PSU lucky draw postponed
Dimapur, December 15 (MExN): The Peshu Students' Union (PSU) Lucky Draw scheduled for December 15 has been postponed. It will now be drawn at the finale of the 17th PSU Silver Jubilee Memorial Football Tournament in January 2018 after the match, informed a press release from Mono, PSU vice president.

Meeting on implementation of 7th ROP
Kohima, December 15 (MExN): A meeting has been convened on December 20 at 11:00 am in the conference hall of the Directorate of Treasuries & Accounts with regard to implementation of 7th ROP. Therefore, Finance Secretary Y Kikheto Sema in a circular has requested all Heads of Departments and Accounts Officers to attend the meeting.
Peace Riders reach Zunheboto district
Zunheboto, December 15 (MExN): The Sumi Baptist Church Zunheboto (SBCZ) hosted the Peace Riders on the fourth day of the ‘Peace tour on bikes cum Clean and Fair Election awareness drive.’ Led by Aketo, Youth Pastor of SBCZ, the programme started off with prayer and introduction by Rev. Phanenmo followed by special number. Four members of the Peace Riders spoke during the programme, while message was delivered by Rev Dr Woba James, Associate Professor, Eastern Theological College (ETC). Sharing his experience of the peace tour, he said, “As election is coming up, let us all be a part of change.” He encouraged the youths by putting across a question if they are ready to be a part of change and to make a pledge that each individual will stand against corruption. Peace Riders is a group of around 20 people comprising of theological teachers, ordained ministers, theologians and church leaders (both men and women).
Pre Christmas Carnival at HQ IGAR (N)
Kohima, December 15 (MExN): HQ IGAR (N) is organising a 'Pre Christmas Carnival' at its garrison on December 18 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. According to a press release from Assam Rifles, the carnival has a plethora of activities for all age groups. The attractions include an Assam Rifles Pavilion, where there will be weapon display and documentaries, artifacts on the contribution of Nagas in WW II and other battles. An informative corner giving out details on joining Army/Assam Rifles through various entry schemes will also be set up. There will also be a number of fun games for all age groups including outdoor activities for children, it said. The traditional martial band display will be integrated into the activities of the day, while one can also enjoy multiple cuisines from across India in the backdrop of live music. Informing that the carnival is open to all the people without any entry fee or ticket, Assam Rifles have invited all to it.
