4 arrested for extortion
Dimapur, April 14(MExN): Based on information from public, the Anti-Extortion Team under Zone-I of the Dimapur Police, on April 14, apprehended four persons from Chumukedima on charges of extortion. They were caught while handing out tax leaflets to the truck drivers, stated a press release from Addl. Dy Commissioner of Police/PRO, Dimapur.
The police identified the culprits as Selitre of Seyochung, under Kiphire District; and others as Katoshe, Toyeho Sumi of Litsami village and Khetovi of Shuhibo village, all under Zunheboto district. Presently, they are all residents of Dimapur and members of the NNC (NA), the police said adding that various incriminating documents along with two mode of conveyance were seized from their possession. A case was registered against them under Diphupar Police Station and the police are making further investigation, it added.
One arrested for robbery
Kohima, April 14 (MExN): The Kohima Police, on Thursday, arrested one person for involving in looting of taxi drivers on two separate occasions. The police identified the person as Vekhota Sapu (22 yrs) of Zapose-o Village – Phughwe, under Peren District. According to a press note from Sub – Divisional Police Officer & PRO Kohima, Atu Zumvü NPS the accused was initially produced by youth of Naga Hospital colony before the Kohima South Police Station and lodged an F.I.R alleging that he was involved in looting of taxi drivers.
An further enquiry, it was ascertained that the arrested person on two separate occasions (11th and 12th April 2016) had hired two different taxis and on reaching Jotsoma village snatched away cash and mobile phones of the drivers, the police informed. In this connection, a regular case vide Kohima South P.S was registered against the arrested person.
ZPO (N) denounces
Dimapur, April 14 (MExN): The Zeliang People’s Organisation, Nagaland today voiced out its strong disapproval and condemnation over the proposed the inauguration of a Rongmei village under Jalukie in Peren district in the “name and style of Jalukie Rongkaidai Village” on April 15, 2016.
In a press statement issued by its Media Cell, ZPO (N) said, “For the manner the village is established on a procured piece, the sentiment of the native Zeliangs is never daunted nor suppressed but the short-sighted conduct of any section of the population who had gullibly succumbed to the influence of money and are continuing to act as achievers is vehemently denounced.” Land ownership is inherent and hence procurement never denotes natural right, ZPO (N) further asserted. In this regard, it maintained that ZPO(N) and the Zeliangs will stand by the truth for “it shall prevail” in the end.
NNC, FGN joint meet on April 25
Kohima, April 14 (MExN): The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has informed that the monthly joint meeting of the Naga National Council (NNC) and the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) will be held on April 25, 10:00 am in Transit Peace Camp, Kohima. The meeting will mainly discuss the ongoing situation in Nagaland and connected matters to urgently work out, according to a release issued by FGN secretary Thihü Khamo. Khamo has requested all the concerned civil authorities and Naga Army officers of the “original NNC/FGN” to attend the said meeting.
AKM informs private tutors
Dimapur, April 14 (MExN): The Ao Student Conference (AKM) has called a meeting with of all the private tuition (both Home & Normal tuition teachers) on April 16, at AKM Conference Hall, 2 PM onwards. A press note from AKM Education Secretary Pangnem said that the meeting would discuss the ongoing tuition system in Mokokchung Town. On this regard, all the private teachers both working and non-working school teachers in Mokokchung Town are informed to attend the meeting positively. “No special or personal information will be given regarding the meeting, it added.
ANTHU Dimapur Unit informs
Dimapur, April 14 (MExN): The Executive Members and Officer Bearers of the All Nagaland Hindi Teachers Union Dimapur Unit will be convening for a meeting on April 16, at Maha Vidyalaya HSSPK Burma Camp, Banker residence from 10:00 A.M. The Union Secretary H. Daniel Sema, through a press note, has requested to All the Executive Members and Office Bearers to attend the meeting without fail.
NNC informs
Dimapur, April 14 (MExN): The Naga National Council (NNC)’s Joint Working Committee (JWC) which was formed on February 15, 2016 to oversee the activities of the council stands defunct “with immediate effect,” a press statement from the Committee Convenor Thupushuyi S. Keyho stated today. “Henceforth, the JWC shall cease to function and exist,” it said adding that the press statement is issued for the information of all concerned.
KUWA executive committee meet
Dimapur, April 14 (MExN): The Kuzhami Welfare Association (KUWA) will have its executive committee meeting on April 16 at 2:00 pm at the Community Hall, Sodzulhou Village, 6th Mile. All concerned members have been requested to attend the meeting without fail.
DDEO Dimapur informs
Dimapur, April 14 (MExN): The Deputy District Education Officer, Dimapur has informed that the Teachers’ State Award forms will be issued during office hours. Therefore, any deserving candidates from both government and private schools have been informed to collect and submit the forms during office hours on or before May 10, 2016. Meanwhile, the DDEO, R Amongla Jamir informed that the Govt. Teachers’ Financial Assistance forms are also being issued. Therefore, the DDEO has informed to collect the forms (only for disabled/ ailment/ untimely death and natural calamities).
Training at Cornerstone College
Dimapur, April 14 (MExN): Vocational Training was launched at Cornerstone College, Dimapur on April 13 by Er. Lanuwapang, Director, NEILIT, Kohima. An MOU was signed between the Cornerstone College and NEILIT, pledging each other that some of the courses offered in NEILIT will be extended to the college. The programme was chaired by Sungtiben, Asst. Prof Department of English, invocation and special number by Along, followed by an introduction and welcome address by Dr. Sashimeren Aier, Chairman Cornerstone College, Dimapur.
