EDSSU ‘peaceful agitation’ on November 11 Dimapur, November 8 (MExN): In pursuance of the East Dimapur Sumi Students’ Union (EDSSU) ultimatum to Department of Land Records and Survey, Government of Nagaland and on failure of the department to meet the student body’s demand, the EDSSU will be staging “peaceful agitation” at Directorate office of Land Records and Survey on November 11. The EDSSU president Kanato S Awomi and general secretary Ato Achumi in a press release have requested all the schools’ authority under its jurisdiction to permit the students of class 10 and above to participate in the agitation. EDSSU further stated that “the Union will leave no stone unturned to bring justice to the educated unemployed youths of Nagas in Nagaland.”     NSCN (IM) mourns Dimapur, November 8 (MExN): NSCN (IM) has mourned the demise of Libenthung Khuvung, Under Secretary, Ministry of Lota & Horticulture, NSCN (IM) on November 8 in Dimapur. “Even though we acknowledge God's timing to take him to be in His heavenly abode, yet we cannot help but feel the loss in an immense way,” stated a condolence note from MIP, Hebron. It informed that Libenthung joined the national service on July 14, 1994 and served the nation with “utmost sincerity and dedication” in various capacities. “Naga Nation will always cherish and appreciate the selfless service he had rendered,” it added. The note further prayed that the Almighty Lord give strength and solace to the bereaved family to bear the loss.     KSOU new office bearers elected Kohima, November 8 (MExN): The Kohima Sumi Officers’ Union (KSOU) elected a new team of office bearers for the session 2016-18 at its Annual Session held on November 5 at Mount Olive College auditorium, Kohima. According to a release, the new team is led by Er. Kahuto Zhimo as president, Dr. Hokheto as vice president, Er. Hutoi as secretary, Er. Rebecca as joint secretary, and Lukheto as treasurer.     Medical camp held at Aboi village Mon, November 8 (MExN): 9 BIHAR under the aegis of HQ 7 Sector Assam Rifles organised a medical camp at St John’s School, Aboi village, Mon district on November 7. Around 400 students were provided medical assistance by RMO, 9 BIHAR and his medical team. The headmaster of the school and parents conveyed their gratitude to the unit for their efforts in looking after the medical needs of the local populace and appreciated the efforts of 9 BIHAR for providing medical treatment at their door step, according to a press release from AR.     NLA Library Committee to undertake tour Kohima, November 8 (MExN): The Library Committee or Nagaland Legislative Assembly headed by Imtikumzuk, Deputy Speaker and Chairman of Library Committee, NLA will undertake study tour to Karnataka and Kerala Legislative Assemblies from November 9-14. During the visit, the Committee will meet the counterpart committees of respective Legislative Assembly, informed a press release from N. Benjamin Newmai, Commissioner & Secretary, NLA.     APO expresses sadness Kohima, November 8 (MExN): The Angami Public Organisation (APO) has expressed sadness over the demise of Dr. Satuo Sekhose and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. “He was a great leader from his youthful days, a sports person and a sport lover. He was a man of great character, a successful father and a senior leader of the Angamis. He was a man of innumerable contributions to the society and he is irreplaceable,” stated a condolence message from APO secretary info & publicity, Neisakholie Ziephru. APO further prayed that Almighty God gives the bereaved family the peace and comfort they need.     Parents’ Day at Azeden School Kohima, November 8 (MExN): Former Director of School Education, Government of Nagaland, V. Meyase graced the Parents’ Day cum Prize Distribution of Azeden School, Kohima as chief guest on November 5. Meyase encouraged the students to give their best effort in studies, adding there is no substitute for hard work. Earlier, Kruzonuo said the invocation prayer, while Kunti Rana presented a speech. Pre-Primary children performed chicken dance and primary students displayed choreography. There was also a traditional show. Annual Report was presented by Nokehienu, Headmistress. The chief guest gave away the prizes to the students.
