NEZCC invites research proposals on folk, tribal arts of Northeast

Dimapur, June 22 (MExN): The North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, has invited applications from renowned scholars for undertaking research-oriented documentation projects on folk and tribal cultural traditions of the Northeast.

The documentation work for 2025-26 will focus on Folk and Tribal Music and Dances as well as Vanishing Art Forms of the eight northeastern states — Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.

According to an official notification, applicants must be Indian citizens and indigenous inhabitants of the state concerned.

The selection of project proposals will be finalised by a panel of experts constituted by the NEZCC.

Application forms and detailed guidelines can be obtained from the offices of the Directorates of Art and Culture or Cultural Affairs of the respective state governments, Shilpgram at Panjabari in Guwahati, and the NEZCC headquarters in Dimapur.

The application forms are also available on the official website of NEZCC and its social media platforms.

The last date for submission of applications is August 31, 2026. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

The notification stated that the Director of NEZCC reserves the right to accept or reject any application without assigning any reason.
