Artists to unite for disaster relief concert on August 15

The North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) is set to mark Independence Day with music, culture and a humanitarian cause through its upcoming ‘Rhythms of Freedom – Tiranga Charity Concert’, with organisers describing the initiative as one carrying a “civil message”.
The concert will be held on August 15 at the amphitheatre of the NEZCC Stone Sculpture Garden, Dimapur.
“This event carries a civil message,” NEZCC Director Alobo Naga maintained while addressing a press conference on August 10 to discuss the upcoming event here at NEZCC Office, near Stone Sculpture Garden, 3rd Mile Dimapur.
The initiative aims to combine the celebration of Independence Day with support for disaster-affected communities, he added.
He further informed that 100% of ticket proceeds and donations would be directed towards families and districts affected by natural disasters across Nagaland, including flash floods and landslides.
Alobo said the programme is intended to go beyond entertainment by bringing people together around a humanitarian cause.
As per the NEZCC, tickets are priced at Rs 100 per person and will be available online through Ahibi as well as at the venue.
Donations can also be made through an online QR code available on the Ahibi website. The concert will be managed by Musika Events, with support from Kaki and Ahibi, and in partnership with the State Bank of India (SBI).
Meanwhile, several Nagaland musicians, artists, choirs and performers are scheduled to participate in the concert. These include Nise Meruno, Sunep Lemtur, Kekhrie Ringa, Hentok Konyak, Lenen Jamir, Kivika Achumi, Cantamus Choir, Colored Keys, Hopong Naga and the Tetso College Choir.
The organisers also promised that surprise guests would be announced ahead of the event.
The programme will also bring together various community groups, including the Nepali, Gorkha, Bihari, Bengali and Punjab communities, as contributors to the initiative.
Food and other activities will be provided by the Nagaland Street Food Association, Nagaland Coffee and The Big Fun Factory.
In an update, the NEZCC informed that measures would be implemented to ensure transparency and accountability in ticket sales and donations, with the entire proceeds from tickets and donations earmarked for disaster-affected families in Nagaland.
The programme is intended not only for entertainment but also to acknowledge society as a whole and celebrate “compassion, culture and unity,” the NEZCC Director stated, while expressing gratitude to the participating artists, performers and supporters for the cause.
