NFHRCC keeps proposed agitation in abeyance

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 12 (MExN): The Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) has decided to keep in abeyance its proposed agitation which was scheduled to begin September 13.

A press release from the NFHRCC informed that this decision was taken during a meeting with Dimapur based civil society organizations in view of the Government’s response. The agitation will be kept in abeyance “in the greater interest of the people till an agreement is arrived at between the NFHRCC and concerned department with regard to execution of the pliable road.”

It meanwhile informed that the newly constituted ‘Young Nagas Action Committee for Foothills Road’ would be “kept alive” for “any eventualities.”

The NFHRCC also appreciated the decision made by Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio and Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton for allotting the necessary fund for construction of the pliable Foothill road despite acute financial constrains “which clearly exhibits their strong leadership.”

“It also manifest that they are fully aware of the pulse of the people more, so it shows that the State Government respect the sentiments of the Naga public at large. In this regard the house also appreciates all the elected MLAs and the concerned Department of PWD(R&B) for their commitment in making the Naga Historic project a reality,” it added.

Meanwhile, the committee urged that under any circumstances, the construction of a pliable Foothill Road has to be started at the onset of this working season 2021.

It further urged the Government of India to declare the Trans Nagaland Expressway (Mega Project) from Khelma to Tizit at the earliest. In this regard, the house unequivocally endorsed the Committee to apprise the Ministry (MoRTH) and to approach the PMO at the earliest to expedite the relentless efforts made by the State Government.
