NFHRCC & PPC reaffirm resolutions on foothills road construction

Dimapur, January 19 (MExN): The Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) and the Phom People’s Council (PPC) have unequivocally reaffirmed a resolution passed in 2023 that no compensation will be paid to any individual, clan, or village in relation to the foothills road construction.

“In the event of violation, the Council, along with the committee, will take stern action against whomever it may concern,” added the resolution reaffirmed during a joint consultative meeting of the NFHRCC and representatives of the PPC, headed by the President of the Dimapur Phom Union, on January 19 in Dimapur.

The resolution, adopted after much deliberation, is in line with the decision made by the Ao Senden, Lotha Hoho, and Sumi Hoho on January 16, 2025, the NFHRCC stated in a press release.

Furthermore, the January 19 meeting unanimously resolved that all contractors or firms awarded work orders for the construction of the foothills road under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme must sign implementation agreements with the committee on or before January 23, 2025. Any firm failing to do so will not be allowed to execute the work within the jurisdiction of the PPC, the release added.

The meeting also resolved that if the implementation agreement is not signed within the stipulated time frame, the PPC, along with the NFHRCC, will press upon the concerned department to immediately cancel the work order and issue a new work order to a deserving firm, the release stated. It was also made clear that the working season is running out. Therefore, in the event of any unfortunate situations, the defaulting firm or contractor will be answerable to the Naga public, it added.
