NFHRCC welcomes allocation of Rs 148 crore for foothills road

DIMAPUR, MARCH 6 (MExN): The Nagaland Foothill Roads Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) has expressed profound appreciation to the Chief Minister Nephiu Rio and Kaito Sema, Minister for PWD (R&B) and the entire elected representative of the 14th NLA for initiating a fruitful debate and allocating an amount of Rs148.5 crore for the Foothills road construction during the last assembly session. 

It also appreciated the Department of Public Works, Road and Bridges for the technical input provided to the NLA during the deliberations by the house.

While appreciating the state government for keeping their commitment alive on the Foothills road construction which was initiated by the CSOs and as endorsed by the apex tribal hohos in 2013, it stated that during the last 11 years, the state government had generously invested an amount of Rs 100 crores.

The NFHRCC also appreciated the Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan for his commitment to follow it up with the concerned authority basing on the NLA resolutions adopted in September 2022 august session.

It also informed that the Committee had apprised the Minister for DoNER, G Kishan Reddy in New Delhi in December 2023 at his office chamber, Phangnon Konyak, MP (Rajya Sabha) for her support letter written to the concerned Ministry in Delhi.

It expressed gratitude to the apex tribal hohos for their unconditional support to the Committee and gently reminding the state government for the urgency felt by the general Naga people  for their economic connectivity Road.

The Committee, meanwhile, urged the Department of Public Works, Road & Bridge Department and the District Administration to reiterate their early notifications on refraining from mining of stone gravels/boulders within 1 km both up/down stream to safeguard the longevity of the Doyang Bridge.

It further informed that the Committee will be convening a coordination meeting with all the effected Divisional EEs, PWD(R&B) on March 9, at 11 AM at the NFHRCC base office, Kher Mahal, Dimapur and urged upon all the members to attend the meeting positively.
