Maligaon, August 10 (MExN): Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has cancelled and rescheduled several train services as restoration work continues near New Harangajao station following the settlement of railway tracks on Line-1 and Line-2 of the Lumding-Badarpur Hill Section.
Train operations over the section are currently being maintained through Line-3 with enhanced safety measures, NFR said in a statement on Monday.
As part of the ongoing restoration work, Train No. 15615 (Guwahati-Silchar) Express, scheduled to commence its journey on August 11, has been cancelled between Guwahati and Silchar.
Train No. 15616 (Silchar-Guwahati) Express, scheduled to commence its journey on August 12, has also been cancelled between Silchar and Guwahati.
Several trains have been rescheduled.
Train No. 15650 (Narangi-Agartala) Express, scheduled to commence its journey on August 11, will now depart from Narangi at 10.30 pm instead of 5 pm.
Train No. 15649 (Agartala-Narangi) Express, also scheduled to commence its journey on August 11, will depart from Agartala at 11.30 pm instead of 9.30 pm.
Train No. 15609 (Guwahati-Sairang) Express, commencing its journey on August 11, has been rescheduled to depart from Guwahati at 11.30 pm instead of 7 pm.
Train No. 15610 (Sairang-Guwahati) Express, scheduled to commence its journey on August 11, will depart from Sairang at 9.30 pm instead of 7 pm.
Train No. 15611 (Rangiya-Silchar) Express, commencing its journey on August 11, will depart from Rangiya at 11.30 pm instead of 7 pm.
Train No. 15612 (Silchar-Rangiya) Express, commencing its journey on August 12, has been rescheduled to depart at 5 am on the same day.
Train No. 15628 (Silchar-Coimbatore) Express, scheduled to commence its journey on August 11, will now depart from Silchar at 4.10 am on August 12.
NFR also said Train No. 15625 (Deoghar-Agartala) Express, commencing its journey on August 10, will be regulated suitably en route.
The railway authorities said restoration work is being undertaken while maintaining train operations through Line-3 with enhanced safety measures.
NFR freight loading rises 18.1 pc to 1.105 MT in July
Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) recorded freight loading of 1.105 million tonnes (MT) in July 2026, registering an 18.1 per cent increase over the corresponding period of the previous year, the railway said on Monday.
Several key commodities registered significant growth during the month.
Cement loading increased by 89.6 per cent, while dolomite loading rose by 42.9 per cent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
Container loading also registered a substantial growth of 45.5 per cent, while Petroleum Oil and Lubricants (POL) loading increased by 3.6 per cent during July.
Under the Other Goods category, loading of miscellaneous commodities rose by 10 per cent during the month.
The cumulative freight loading of NFR up to July 2026 stood at 4.135 MT, registering a growth of 6.9 per cent over the corresponding period of the previous year.
The railway said the steady increase in freight loading reflected growing economic and industrial activity across the Northeast and adjoining areas.
The sustained growth has strengthened the regional supply chain network and contributed to the revenue earnings of NFR, it said.
