NFR continues cleanliness & waste segregation drive

Maligaon, May 27 (MExN): As part of its ongoing environmental initiatives, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has intensified cleanliness and waste management efforts across its divisions, focusing on station sanitation, waste segregation, and green initiatives.

As per an official release, the initiatives included a special cleanliness drive at New Tinsukia Railway Station with participation from railway staff, volunteers, and environmental advocates. 

The campaign focused on cleaning station premises, removing plastic litter, and promoting the use of eco-friendly alternatives under the theme “Say No to Single-Use Plastic,” it said.

A similar initiative was held at the Wagon Care Centre, New Tinsukia, where staff and volunteers undertook cleaning activities and promoted sustainable practices within railway operations, it added. 

In New Bongaigaon, a plantation drive was carried out at the Divisional Railway Hospital, encouraging staff and patients to plant trees within the premises as part of the ‘Go Green’ initiative, the released informed. 

At Dibrugarh Railway Station, a waste segregation campaign was launched with the installation of separate bins for biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste while cleanliness drives were also conducted at the Dibrugarh railway colony.

Similar exercise was carried out at the Hojai Health Unit. 

Additional efforts were undertaken at the Old Sick Line and New Sick Line in Katihar, focusing on cleaning railway tracks and surrounding premises. 

According to the NFR, these initiatives are part of its commitment to sustainable operations and environmental responsibility and affirmed its commitment to continue promoting cleanliness, community involvement, and eco-friendly practices across all divisions.
