Maligaon, September 6 (MExN): Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava inspected the Diesel Loco Shed and Siliguri Railway Station on September 5, reviewing ongoing infrastructure development, passenger amenity projects and other works aimed at improving railway operations and passenger services.
Senior officials from NFR headquarters and Katihar Division accompanied the General Manager during the inspection.
At the Diesel Loco Shed, Shrivastava reviewed the existing infrastructure, locomotive maintenance facilities and ongoing improvement works. He stressed the need to maintain high standards of safety, reliability and efficiency in locomotive maintenance, while ensuring effective utilisation of available facilities.
At Siliguri Railway Station, he reviewed the progress of various developmental and passenger amenity works and held discussions with officials on ongoing and planned projects. The station is being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, with works including construction of a new foot overbridge, provision of a platform shed at Platforms 2 and 3, and construction of a new station building.
The General Manager also reviewed doubling works on the Siliguri–Aluabari Road and Siliguri–New Jalpaiguri sections. He directed officials to complete the ongoing works within the stipulated timelines while maintaining quality, safety and passenger convenience.
The inspection also included a window-trailing inspection from Kamakhya to New Bongaigaon, during which the General Manager reviewed track and railway infrastructure, newly commissioned works and ongoing development activities along the section.
Shrivastava appreciated the efforts of railway officials and staff towards strengthening infrastructure and improving operational performance. He called for coordinated efforts for timely completion of projects, adherence to quality and safety standards, and continued focus on providing safe, reliable and efficient railway services across NFR.
