NFR holds meet with MPs at Rangiya Division
Maligaon, September 12 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), General Manager Sanjive Roy held a meeting with the Members of Parliament (MPs) whose constituencies are served by Rangiya Division, at Rangiya Divisional headquarter on September 12.
The meeting was held to apprise the MPs about the developmental activities carried out by NFR and seek suggestions from public representatives to improve services of NFR, stated Subhanan Chanda, Chief Public Relations Officer in a press release.
MP (Lok Sabha) Dilip Saikia, MP (Lok Sabha) Pradan Baruah, MP (Lok Sabha) Abdul Khaleque and MP (Rajya Sabha) Biswajit Daimary were present in the meeting.
The General Manager highlighted the achievement of the entire NFR, while Divisional Railway Manager, VA Malegaonkar gave brief description of various achievements and activities of Rangiya Division.
NFR launched ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa’ programme over the zone to provide aesthetics and cleaner environments in stations and railway premises.
Coach Mitra App has been used in most of the long distance trains. It was stated that many stations under NFR have been beautified with mural painting focusing on local themes and cultural importance and that the stations have become selfie points for the rail users.
It was also mentioned that Railway electrification will be completed up to Guwahati by March, 2020.
In regard to doubling of railway line in Rangiya division, the Divisional Railway Manager of Rangiya division stated that the works from Bongaigaon to Kamakhya via Goalpara has started and doubling of railway line from New Bongaigaon to Agthori via Rangiya were approved by the Ministry of Railways.
Malegaonkar also said that proposal to set up digital museum at New Bongaigaon, Barpeta Road and Rangiya Railway stations has been sanctioned. It has also been proposed to complete installation of Wi-Fi facility in all stations by September this year in Rangiya division.
‘No Bill, Free Meal’ and ‘No Tips’ campaign in entire Rangiya division has been launched.
The MPs suggested railway connectivity to Mangaldoi, stoppage of some long distance trains in particular stations, railway connectivity from Bongaigaon to Agthori through Barpeta Town and Hajo, Railway line connectivity to Bhutan, extension of the Naharlagun -New Delhi AC Express up to Murkongselek Railway station , maintenance of cleanliness, improvement of passenger amenities etc. The GM noted the suggestions given by the MPs and assured to implement the same to the extent feasible.
