NFR officials take pledge to ensure cleanliness

Maligaon, October 3 (MExN): The 152nd birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi was observed throughout the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) zone.

According to a press release from the NFR Chief Public Relations Officer Guneet Kaur, on October 2, all the five divisions of NFR participated in the Swachhta Pakhwada with full zeal and vigour, culminating in a grand coordinated celebration. Pledge taking to ensure cleanliness, Bhajan Karyakram, thorough cleaning of the station premises and tree plantation was undertaken by officers and all staff at all levels. On the occasion, tree plantation was also done at redeveloped Jorhat Goods Yard by Anshul Gupta, GM/NFR, where the Goods Yard has been given modern look by making a merchant room, fully functional goods office, and a multi-purpose food and multipurpose stall giving comfort to the freight handlers/ their staff, the release stated.

During the occasion, NFR officers and employees took the pledge to make endeavours towards keeping their office and surroundings clean, spend at least two hours every week towards this goal, and avoid using single use plastic for the sake of keeping the environment clean. Shramdan was offered by railway officials in all the divisions and HQ, it added.
