Maligaon, November 15 (MExN): The Indian Railways Cycling team won the recently held 24th National Road Cycling Championship held at Bikaner, Rajasthan from November 13 to 16. Indian Railway participated in the Championship under the aegis of Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) and won Gold Medal in both Men and Women category.
The Mens team of four comprising of Devkishan Saran of NFR won the Gold medal with a total time of 1:13:53.780 hrs for a distance of 60 km with an average speed of 48.72 kmph. In the Women’s category Indian Railway’s cycling team of four comprising of Monorama Devi and Sonali Chanu of NFR won the championship with a total time of 01:00:12.510 hrs for a distance of 40 kms with an average speed of 39.86 kmph.
It may be mentioned here that NFR under the guidance of Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB), New Delhi is continuously working towards expansion and promotion of sports in Northeast. N.F. Railway is also running coaching/training academies at Maligaon for different sports disciplines and as a result of this players of NFR are continuously shining and showing good results in various National Championships.
