NFR records 0.956 mn tonnes of freight loading in Feb 2025

Maligaon, March 16 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) continues to make steady strides in freight transportation, recording 0.956 million tonnes (MT) of freight loading across various commodities in February 2025.

According to NFR, several commodities saw significant growth compared to the same period last year. Container loading increased by 44.4%, cement loading by 37.5%, dolomite by 26.7%, and fertilizer by 5.0%. Additionally, ballast loading grew by 27.3%, stone chips by 50.5%, and bamboo loading recorded a remarkable 800% rise.

The sustained increase in freight loading highlights growing economic activity in the region. As of February 2025, NFR’s cumulative freight loading stood at 9.627 million tonnes, marking a 4.9% rise from the previous year. The railway remains committed to technological advancements to enhance service efficiency and reliability, ensuring continued growth in freight transportation, the NFR said in a press release.
