NFR records 9.6% growth in freight loading in June 2025

MALIGAON, JULY 13 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has recorded a 9.6% growth in freight loading during June 2025, loading 0.968 million tonnes (MT) of goods compared to the same period last year, an official release said.

According to Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer of NFR, several key commodities showed notable increases in loading. Cement loading rose by 53.1%, coal by 37.5%, fertilizers by 9.1%, petroleum products (POL) by 41.7%, containers by 11.1%, and other commodities by 36.2%.

Stone chips registered a particularly sharp rise of 275% compared to June 2024, the release stated.

NFR attributed the growth to rising economic activity in the region. The consistent increase in freight loading has not only bolstered the region’s economy but also contributed significantly to NFR’s revenue, the release added.

NFR further stated its commitment to adopting technical advancements aimed at improving service reliability and efficiency, ensuring sustained growth in freight transportation.
