Maligaon, January 25 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has continued its efforts to identify and rescue children in need of care and protection who are lost or separated from their families at railway premises.
During 2025, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) under NFR rescued a total of 1,101 children, including 802 boys and 299 girls, and handed them over to Child Welfare Committees (CWC) or parents for proper care and rehabilitation.
Under Mission AAHT (Action Against Human Trafficking), the RPF rescued nine children and 80 adults during the year, leading to the arrest of nine traffickers.
In a recent incident on January 21, the RPF at Guwahati railway station, in coordination with CPDS and CIB teams, rescued two runaway minor boys. The minors were safely handed over to Child Line, Guwahati, for care, protection and rehabilitation.
On the same day, the RPF at Kamakhya railway station rescued a runaway minor girl during an operation conducted by the local RPF team. She was subsequently handed over to Child Line, Guwahati, for safe custody and further rehabilitation.
The RPF of NFR said it remains committed to ensuring the safety and protection of vulnerable children at railway premises and continues to function across the zone to prevent human trafficking and maintain a safe and secure railway environment.
