Northeast Frontier Railway will be operating Parcel Express trains as per fixed time table between Dibrugarh and Guwahati and New Jalpaiguri and Guwahati on round trip basis.
Maligaon, May 1 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway will be operating Parcel Express trains as per fixed time table between Dibrugarh and Guwahati and New Jalpaiguri and Guwahati on round trip basis, to provide a solution for transportation of essential goods in small quantities in the wake of COVID-19. These parcel trains will have stoppages at many intermediate stations to enable the agricultural and trade community of these localities to transport their produce / goods to the required destinations.
A statement from the NFR’s Chief Public Relations Officer on Friday informed that the Parcel Express train towards Guwahati will start from Dibrugarh on May 2 at 08:00 am to reach Guwahati at 09:30 pm the same day. During the return journey the parcel train will start from Guwahati on May03 at 08:00 am to reach Dibrugarh at 09:30 pm the same day. The train will have stoppages at Jagiroad, Chaparmukh, Hojai, Lumding Jn, Barlongfer, Diphu, Dimapur, Sarupathar, Furkating Jn, Mariani Jn, Simaluguri Jn, Duliajan and New Tinsukia for loading and unloading of Parcel packages during its journey on both ways, it said.
Similarly another Parcel Express train will start from New Jalpaiguri on May 2 at 06:15 am to reach Guwahati at 04:00 pm the same day. The return journey will begin from Guwahati onMay 3 at 08:00 am to reach New Jalpaiguri at 05:30 pm the same day. The train will stop at Dhupguri, Falakata, New Cooch Behar, New Alipurduar, Kamakhyaguri, Barpeta Road and Rangiya for loading and unloading of Parcel packages during its journey on both ways.
Interested traders/ farmers / customers including government agencies/departments may contact the respective Station Managers or any of the officials of Commercial Department of their area for more details to transport their goods, the release stated. These parcel train service can also be availed by anybody who is in need of sending consignments to different places by calling a centralized helpline number 138, it added.
