NFR track maintainer felicitated for timely detection of landslide

The Northeast Frontier Railway General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava felicitated Track Maintainer Akshay Raj for his timely intervention in detecting a landslide in the Lumding-Badarpur hill section.

MALIGAON, JULY 4 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has recognized the alertness and dedication of Akshay Raj, Track Maintainer-IV under the Senior Section Engineer (P. Way), New Harangajao, Lumding Division, for his timely intervention in detecting a landslide in the Lumding-Badarpur hill section.

On the morning of June 23, while on duty as a stationary watchman at KM 108/6-7, Akshay Raj observed a sudden slip of muck and boulders falling over the left retaining wall onto the side drain near KM 108/7-8. Sensing a potential threat to train movement, he promptly alerted the Junior Engineer (P. Way), Jatinga Lampur, and the gang members of Gang Nos. 23 and 24.

He also took immediate safety measures by securing the affected section with a banner flag, in line with standard railway safety protocols. His swift action enabled the railway authorities to initiate timely preventive measures, thereby averting a possible mishap.

In appreciation of his exemplary conduct, Akshay Raj was felicitated by NFR General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava.

Commending the track maintainer’s vigilance, the General Manager said such prompt and responsible actions reflect the crucial role played by frontline railway personnel in ensuring the safety and reliability of train operations. He also urged all railway staff to remain alert and proactive while on duty to prevent untoward incidents and uphold the highest standards of passenger safety.
