‘NGOs Forum Nagaland’ to provide community platform

Dimapur, May 29 (MExN): Government registered NGOs in Nagaland has formed a forum under the nomenclature of ‘NGOs Forum Nagaland’ during the seminar on Article 371(A) cum 1st general meeting of Government Recognized NGOs in Nagaland conducted on May 25 at NEISSER Conference hall and organized by Peace Channel, NEISSR, NACWR and NGO forum.

It was informed in a press release that the forum was formed after number of NGOs consultative meetings were held with the initiative of NGO Forum Interim Body and with the consent of number of Government Registered NGOs.  

The Forum was formed with a guideline to support the organization’s vision, mission and values. It will provide a community platform for NGOs in their diverse domain, active in any part of Nagaland and to contribute to governance and development process in Nagaland.  

The NGO Forum was formed with the following objectives:

• Hold accountable to the highest level of ethical behavior and responsibility for our action, while maintaining integrity in our performance.

• Advocate and foster closer collaboration and co-operate between NGOs and the Government authority.

• Provide a platform for organizations working on social welfare services to meet and discuss issues of common interest, and to share information, experience and good practices.

• Build capacity and provide networking opportunities in the District and State.

• Contribute to the promotion and protection of human rights in Nagaland; and

• Shall strive for a safeguard the rights for NGOs to existence and independence at all times.

• To enhance the access of NGO to help the Government policies, programmes and schemes.   A team of office bearers were also elected with the following: Chairman: Dr. Hesheto Chishi, Director, Indigenous Cultural Society; Vice Chairperson: Rhuletsu, IBAPWO, Kiphire; General Secretary: Ainla Pongen; Finance Secretary: Pramila, Director, ACID joint Secretary, Jess T. Murry; Treasurer: Kashito Kiba, MD Pheto Music Association; Information Secretary: Meren and D. Adani, Cherry Blossom Society, Kohima.
