NHAK spearhead sustainable healthcare initiatives; installs vertical garden

The vertical garden at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK), installed by Kohima Forest Division was inaugurated on May 17.

Kohima, May 17 (MExN): The Chief Conservator of Forest, Department of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Nagaland, Supongnukshi IFS inaugurated the vertical garden at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK), installed by Kohima Forest Division on May 17. 

The inauguration was done in the presence of Chisayi IFS, DFO, Kohima, Dr Sevono Seletsu SFS, DCF, Kohima and medical staff of NHAK. 

Speaking during a brief programme, Supongnukshi commended the medical team of NHAK for providing their services to the people of the state. He said that many external surroundings influence one’s mental and psychological health. He added that good and healthy environment with good surroundings are important factors for recovery of the patients. “The installation of the vertical garden with improved air quality and aesthetic beauty would aid in well-being of everyone including the visitors in the hospital,” the CCF added.

In his note of gratitude, Dr Sendimeren Aonok, Managing Director, NHAK said that there is a bond between medical facility and nature, and they complement each other adding that a sense of well being is being developed as one enter the hospital and see the beauty of the flowers and the plants. He further lauded the efforts of everyone involved for the concept of the vertical garden at NHAK. 

The chairperson, Dr Neiphrezo Sorünuo, Co-Convenor Kayakalp, NHAK expressed gratitude to the Kohima Forest Division for the eco friendly initiative, which will have a good impact in the days to come, and further hoped to work together with the Kohima Forest Division in the future. Meanwhile, Mr. Vikepu Tepa, Chaplain, NHAK blessed the inauguration by invoking God’s blessing. 

It may be mentioned that Kohima Forest Division under National Clean Air Programme had installed the vertical garden at NHAK starting from the entrance, two wheeler parking lot, ICU and between the wards within the hospital premises. Plants having air purifying properties such as succulents, peace lily, bromeliad, syngonium and others were installed in the vertical garden.
