‘NHIDCL assured to adhere to norms of road work on Wokha-Merapani Highway’

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 24 (MExN): Lotha organizations led by the Lotha Hoho met the officials of National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) at its office in Sivasagar, Assam on November 11 to discuss on the matters of delay in the implementation of rehabilitation cum up-gradation road works of Wokha – Merapani Highway.

According to a press release issued by Lotha Hoho general secretary, Er Mhondamo Ovung, various aspects of the road works were discussed and each party expressed its views and opinions on the ongoing works of the highway.  

The Lotha organizations apprised the NHIDCL officials on the ground realities at the site of work and their dissatisfaction on the way the work had been allotted to a Lucknow based contractor at a very low rate below schedule of rates, unsatisfactory progress of implementation of works etc.  

After an exhaustive consultations and discussion, the NHIDCL assured the Lotha organizations that all technical specifications and codal norms would be adhered to in the implementation of the work, the press release stated, adding that the Lotha organizations also assured full support and cooperation to the NHIDCL and the contractor in the implementation of the work.  

The NHIDCL also clarified that the contractor will implement the major components of the work items and any work item to be sublet to sub contractor will be subject to approval of the NHIDCL.  

The Lotha organizations, according to the press release, however cautioned that the NHIDCL would be held accountable for any omission or commission in the implementation of the work and that the beneficiary Lotha community would insist on adherence to all specifications and norms and timely implementation. The NHIDCL also made available to the Lotha organizations the copies of related documents for necessary reference and enforcement.
