Night curfew along Assam- Nagaland border in Sivasagar

Dimapur, July 29 (MExN): The Sivasagar district administration has imposed night curfew in areas along Assam-Nagaland inter-state border in the district, according to a delayed report from the state DIPR informed on Thursday. Accordingly, night curfew has been reinforced from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am in the 5 kilometre belt in Assam side of Sivsagar district bordering Nagaland with effect from July 1 for a period of 60 days.

“Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Sivasagar, Assam, in an order, said night curfew has been imposed as a precautionary measure to prevent occurrence of anti-social elements/extremist/unlawful activities coming across the Assam /Nagaland border in the belt of Sivasagar district,” the report stated. Movement of any person/ group of persons/any vehicular traffics is prohibited during the period of night curfew. However, magistrates, security personnel of army/CRPF/Police and civil officials deployed on duty are exempted from the purview of the prohibitory order, it added.
