NIL/Poor results of Government Schools In HSLC Exam

The nil results of Government Schools in the HSLC Examination is in increasing trend as reflected in the past 4 yrs results of the said HSLC Exam given below:-

In 2010 HSLC exam, 11 Government schools got nil results

In 2011 HSLC exam, 15 Government Schools produced nil results

And in 2012& 2013 HSLC exams, 17 & 26 Government schools produced nil results respectively.

As seen above, this declining trend of academic performances of Government run schools in the public exam should be a wake-up call for Government or for that matter the department of School Education to take immediate corrective measures for academic improvement of Government schools in the State.

The primary duty of the whole setup of DSE is to supervise/monitor and evaluate the academic performance of the schools. Therefore, regular assessment of overall academic performances of students of Government Schools should be the main focus of the department. This is so because the quality /status of the department is being judged/assessed by the public through the academic performances of students of Government schools in the ESLC/HSLC/HSSLC examinations. Therefore, as suggested by ANSTA in its earlier representation dated 8-6-2011 and re-affirmed it on 31-05-13, an academic cell should be set-up in the DSE to look after the academic aspects of the department. Necessary guidelines/policies /programmes on academic improvement can be formulated by the concerned cell. The department may assigned the concerned cell with some analysis/research exercises on the poor performance of Government Schools and with analytical approach, the inner problems of nil and poorly performed schools can be identified/diagnosed and accordingly appropriate remedial measures may be adopted for its necessary remedy.

If Government does not take prompt/timely corrective measures in this  respect, the results of Government run schools in  the following years may be even worse than the present one  as with the introduction of non-detention policy through RTE, Students are being sent up to the next higher classes till up to class 9 without detention.
