Kohima, September 1 (MExN): The Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (NIMSR) conducted the induction programme for the inaugural batch of MBBS students on September 1. The event took place at the NIMSR academic block in Phriebagie, Kohima, with Chief Secretary J Alam, IAS, gracing the occasion as the special guest, stated a DIPR report. 

In his address, J Alam emphasized that this event marked the beginning of a new academic session and, more importantly, the realization of a long-cherished dream for the state—a Medical College. He urged everyone to remember the challenges faced in establishing the institution and acknowledged the unwavering support of the Chief Minister and the Government of Nagaland in this endeavor.

Alam encouraged the staff and faculty to contribute to building an institution of excellence. He also motivated the students to work diligently, emphasizing their future role in impacting countless lives and reducing healthcare disparities, aligning with the government's commitment to accessible healthcare for all. Alam concluded by affirming the government's full support in developing the institute to be among the best in the country.

Dr Ritu Thurr, Principal Director, Department of Health and Family Welfare (DHFW), congratulated the new students on their admission to the institute. She encouraged them to work hard, maintain their commitment to serve the people and strive for success.

Dr SoumyaChakraboty, Director cum Dean of NIMSR, delivered introductory remarks, welcoming all attendees to the induction programme.
