NIPF shocked over appointment of non-indigenous GB in Dimapur

Dimapur, October 9 (MExN): The Nagaland Indigenous People's Forum (NIPF) has expressed their ‘shock and surprise’ over the appointment of ‘non-indigenous’ GB in Dimapur.

“This is a serious issue which cannot be lightly taken as it can have a negative effect in the future of the indigenous people of Nagaland,” the forum observed in a press release.

The Government of Nagaland need to pull up its sleeves and activate its mechanism to check if such appointment has been made in the past or be prepared to prevent such appointment in the future, it stated.

“It is high time to wake up from our deep slumber and look at the pity conditions of some of the NE States where non indigenous people have taken over or are taking over the indigenous people in all the governing set up of the state and have turned the indigenous people to be a minority in their own state,” the forum stated.

It urged that strict action should be initiated; even termination, on any government official who is found to be responsible for illegal appointment of any non indigenous in any government offices and institutions of Nagaland.

Further, NIPF called “upon every indigenous citizens of Nagaland to be vigilant and initiate legal steps to protect the Indigenous people of the state irrespective of tribes and communities.”
