
Dimapur, November 10 (MExN): Following the demise of PB Acharya, former Governor of Nagaland, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, and Manipur on Friday, the NITTE (Deemed to be University) officials held a condolence meeting at the Hospital Hall on November 10.
The officials along with NITTE-NAMASTE students expressed their solidarity and paid tribute to the exemplary service and leadership of PB Acharya.
An update from the institution stated that the term NAMASTE (Nagaland, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Arunachal, Tripura, East India) was coined by PB Acharya. NITTE-NAMASTE an initiative of PB Acharya in collaboration with NITTE (Deemed to be University) started in 2018 to connect emotionally and culturally with the North-Eastern states. Activities under this initiative include conduct of certificate programs in select NE languages, cultural exchange programs and collaborative research in health science. Meritorious students from economically weaker sections from NE states are provided higher education with complete waiver of tuition fee. “Currently most of the beneficiaries are students from Nagaland,” it stated.
The condolence meet was led by Dr Harsha Halahalli, Registrar, a minute of silence was observed for the departed soul. Prof MS Moodithaya, Vice Chancellor addressed and assured of the NITTE University continued support to the NE students.
Dr Anirban Chakraborty, Director, NITTE University Centre for Science Education and Research gave the condolence message and Kaini Cecilia while appreciating the University for the condolence meeting, expressed her gratefulness to the Vice Chancellor for the assurance of the NITTE University continued support in uplifting the people of NE.
