Niuland: AASA submits memo proposing sports complex in Ato Area

Niuland, August 19 (MExN): The Ato Area Sports Association submitted a memorandum to the Nagaland Minister for Planning and Co-ordination Neiba Kronu, seeking construction of a rostrum-cum-integrated sports complex in the area, under any centrally sponsored scheme.

The memorandum was submitted during Kronu’s visit to an ongoing football ground construction site at Nihokhu under Niuland district on August 17, according to a press release from the AASA Media Cell on Saturday. The AASA covers 11 villages along the foothills with a population of approximately 8700, under the newly formed Niuland district. 

As per the release, the football ground along with first basketball court in Ato area is being constructed by M/S Global infrastructure and construction in the donated land by Nihokhu Village Council. It also stated that the construction company, as part of their social responsibility, has dedicated the ground for the upcoming youth and promotion of sports in the area to build their overall leadership skills and contribute effectively towards economic growth of the area with a futuristic perspective. 

While expressing gratitude to the Minister for his visit, AASA President Vito Z Sumi said that the DPR for the proposed rostrum-cum-integrated sports complex would be submitted after in principle approval by the Government. He also mentioned that ‘free land was available due to immense contribution of Nihokhu village towards future growth of the area,’ the release stated.

Meanwhile, the AASA acknowledged the presence of Wing Commander S Akheto Jakhalu VSM , who was also the chief guest in the recent Ato area sports meet; Ghokivi Tsakhalu, chairman of Project management group undertaking the construction work; Vikugha Chopy, G/S sand union, Purana Bazar, Dimapur; Bohoshe Awomi of Toluvi Village Council, East Dimapur; President Ato Area GB Federation and team; and the Vice President, Niuland Area GB Aassociation , for visiting the construction site, the release stated.
