NIULAND, MAY 14 (MExN): A monsoon preparedness meeting was convened by Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Niuland, Sara S Jamir, on May 13 at the DC’s Conference Hall.
Addressing officials, Jamir stressed that disaster management is a collective responsibility, urging every department to proactively constitute a disaster management committee and be prepared with damage assessment reports in the event of natural calamities.
She called upon the Rural Development Department to sensitize villagers on the importance of maintaining clean drainage and hygienic practices.
Presentations on monsoon preparedness were made by the Departments of Food & Civil Supplies, PWD (R&B), Power, Health & Family Welfare, and PHE.
Concerns over manpower shortage, especially from the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), were also deliberated during the session.
Earlier, Keren, the NSDMA Nodal Officer for Niuland District, highlighted the roles and responsibilities of NSDMA and the cooperation expected from line departments during emergencies.
