NIuland, September 28 (MExN): The Niuland Area Citizens Forum (NACF) on Wednesday said that the students of Government High School Zuheshe have been ‘left in the lurch’ as a result of inadequate deputation or appointment of teachers since the school was upgraded in 2011.
In a press release, NACF President, Kakishe Shikhu and Press Secretary, Saul Sema stated that the Forum has taken serious view of the condition of GHS Zuheshe which has been bereft of sufficient teaching staffs. It said that since 2011 till date, no Mathematics teacher and only limited subject teachers for other subjects have been appointed/deputed by the Department of School Education.
The NACF said that it appreciated and encourages the various initiatives and measures undertaken by the Department in recent times to streamline teachers’ deployment for better performance in government schools. However, it also noted that “the ground reality quite speaks differently with shortage of important subject teachers and dilapidated school infrastructure which contravenes the principles and objectives of RTE Act 2009.”
Meanwhile, the release also stated that recently, Niuland Deputy Commissioner Sara S Jamir and SDEO Bohovi Yeptho “had to intervene and could be seen taking the trouble of teaching the students.” While it was “very encouraging and a privilege for the student community,” the Forum noted that it was “at the expense of their bestowed responsibilities which is quite far bigger.”
Expressing concern over the welfare of the students, the NACF urged the Department to intervene and do the needful for the betterment of the student community since class X students will have their final exam by first quarter of 2023. It hoped that early, necessary action would be taken by the government.
